The Best is Yet to Come

Hi you guys! I haven’t posted on my blog in such a long time. I’ve gotten so wrapped up in school that I’ve neglected my blog. 😦 I miss writing to, talking to, and encouraging you guys! I’m going to have to do better.

The older I get, the more life gets real! Life is definitely not easy. There are major decisions that need to be made, relationships that come and go, and change that is always occurring. Things can get pretty tough and overwhelming at times. We can get so overwhelmed that we just feel like give up, but winners never quit! We have to push through. We have to continue to fight, wait, and pray about things that we want. And the great thing is that God is right there with us helping us get to the finish line.

The picture above is such a true and powerful statement. “God’s best is worth fighting for, worth waiting for, and worth praying for.” That quote is from Marian Jordan Ellis’s book Sex and the Single Christian Girl. I read that book over the summer, and it really put some things into perspective. The quote is referring to romantic relationships, but it also applies to other things like any opportunity you’re trying to take advantage of, an internship, a job, a relationship, or finances. I believe that those three words: fight, wait, and pray can be the hardest things to do. We always want what we want when we want it and how we want it, but that’s not how God works sometimes. He has given us His promises and His truth. He just wants us to trust Him and stay faithful. God knows all of our hearts’ desires, and if we delight ourselves in Him, He’ll give them to us (Psalm 37:4)! We just have to let God be God, but also do our part.

When things go left or when things don’t go how we want, we can get discouraged, but we need to remind ourselves who God is. Think about how blessed you are now because of Him and how in some instances He made a way out of no way. He wants what is best for our lives. He knows what we need, and His plan for our lives is so much better than the plans we have for ourselves. So when you feel like giving up, or when things just aren’t going right, just continue to fight, wait, and pray until you get to that finish line. You never know what God has planned for you. Don’t think your life is over because a season of your life is over, and a door has been shut. God closes doors that no man can open and opens doors that no man can shut! How awesome is that?! Lately, things haven’t been going so well or according to “my” plans, but I have to know that God is the ultimate planner… What is for you will not miss you.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4: 6-7 (NIV)

“God, the Holy One, says “Can you compare me to anyone? Is anyone equal to me?” Look up to the skies. Who created all these stars? He leads out the army of heaven one by one and calls all the stars by name. Because he is strong and powerful, not one of them is missing. People of Jacob, why do you complain? People of Israel, why do you say, “The Lord does not see what happens to me; he does not care if I am treated fairly”? Surely you know. Surely you have heard. The Lord is the God who lives forever, who created all the world. He does not become tired or need to rest. No one can understand how great his wisdom is. He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak. Even children become tired and need to rest, and young people trip and fall. But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will will walk and not become tired.” – Isaiah 40:25-31 (NCV)
